What we did for the client
Over five months, we organized a presentation skills academy for seven managers in the client’s company. The academy focused on acquiring and practicing presentation techniques, including nonverbal expression, building confidence as a presenter, adapting content to the audience, and using visual and vocal elements of presentations. Most modules centered on practicing specific segments of presentations, with video recordings for detailed analysis.
At the beginning and end of the program, each participant delivered a 10-minute presentation evaluated by a panel of 18 individuals – supervisors, colleagues, Mind Lab consultants, and external collaborators. The presentations were assessed based on key criteria, including message clarity, structure, tone, eye contact, audience engagement, and handling questions. The panel also evaluated two additional criteria related to willingness to collaborate with the presenter and the likelihood of purchasing the product or service being presented.
What we measured
The evaluation criteria included message clarity, presentation structure, vocal expressiveness and tone, eye contact, use of visual aids, audience engagement, time management, handling questions, and confidence and charisma. The additional criteria assessed were the likelihood of purchasing the product or service being presented and the likelihood of establishing a business collaboration with the presenter or their company.
The presentation criteria were rated on a scale of 1 to 5, while the additional criteria were rated on a scale from 0 (“not at all”) to 10 (“completely”).
Results
At the end of the academy, all participants showed progress across all measures, with notable improvements in vocal expressiveness, message clarity, and audience engagement. The results also showed higher scores on the additional criteria, suggesting that the audience expressed a greater willingness to purchase the product or service presented and to establish business collaboration with the presenter or their company.
